As for icing my knees, I've been doing that for some time as sometimes they simply seem dead after a good practice or a game. When I'll be older, I bet I'll regret all the basketball I've played on asphalt during my youth, lol.
Trying out the ice bucket method you recommended as I speak. Damn it stings. Moreover, I don't have a bucket at home that fits my gigantic foot.
