Here we go again… Lebron James vs Kobe Bryant. Don’t worry, they aren’t fighting for the championship or the MVP this time. Calm down that brain full of PER and Win Shares, and let us not speak of intangibles and killer instinct. This time, The King and The Black Mamba each get their own titles, though I doubt it’s something they would ever wish for.
On a recent poll of 2,000 U.S. adults (conducted by Ipsos, a market research company), Lebron James was voted the 10th most unpopular celebrity personality. He’s still twice as liked as Paris Hilton, but with 29% of people having a bad opinion of him, he led all NBA players in the “unpopular” category. That’s ok Lebron, some of Miami still thinks you’re cool.
Of course, Kobe Bryant is never to be outdone by Lebron, in anything. The Mamba was ranked the 10th least trusted celebrity in the same poll. He led all NBA players in this category, with 40% of people thinking he is dishonest… but hey, at least he isn’t Paris Hilton either. It’s the scowl Kobe, I know it.
Since when did our greatest players become so loathed and vilified? We need to go back to the days when sleeping with 20,000 women, ditching your old team… and snorting coke was okay.
Or not really.
